Position Description and Compensation: Position / Treatment / Protocol / Compensation & Benefits.


Experienced Physicist will be with a department which oversees three closely-assembled Memorial Hermann facilities along the western rim of Houston. Reporting to the Director of Medical Physics, position will work with physicists in each location in a support and mentoring role as it relates to the department’s growth plans, which include IMRT implementation.

Desired Experience and Work Characteristics:

Top priority given to 5-year-experienced, BC physicist with IMRT experience. ADAC and HDR experience also preferred. Professionalism, a “people person” who desires collegiality and working relationships is necessary, result-oriented initiatives, and practical independent thinking are sought for this new position. Program development and
organizational skills are required. Texas licensure will be applied for.

3 Varian Clinac 2100
2 IMRT capable Varian 6EX with MLC
4 ADAC RTP workstations
2 BrainLab Workstations
2 Prostate Implant- Variseed workstations
1 Large Bore AcQsim, 2nd one is already purchased
2 Ximatron Simulators
1 HDR- To be implemented by the end of 2003
2 IVB Units (Novoste and Guidant)
LDR - Gyn implants - 40/year, 80-100 Prostate implants/year.

Note: All facilities have ADAC, 2100s. Immediate plans include 2 IMRT planning systems and an HDR unit, Radiosurgery, IMRS, and Tomotherapy.

There will be slight variations per site depending on each physician s specialty. For example, Dr. Leach is also boarded in Urology so he will get more prostate patient referrals. Dr. Hamberger treats a lot of gynecological cases with low dose rate therapy. He also specializes in head and neck cancers. Dr. Sherman does many permanent seed implants for prostate cancer.

AAPM salary survey to be used as a guideline, depending on experience—Director of Medical Physics is very attuned to the factors relating to the survey and assures a generous and attractive compensation.
